In the wake of the COVID-19 pandemic, we want to assure the TFOS community that the health, safety and well-being of our TFOS 2020 Conference participants remain our highest priority. We are closely monitoring the global situation surrounding COVID-19, and are in constant communication with health experts around the world. Based upon what we know today, there are no plans to postpone the TFOS 2020 Conference.

TFOS 2020 CONFERENCE ABSTRACT SUBMISSION
The TFOS Governing Board welcomes the submission of abstracts to the 9th International TFOS Conference on the Tear Film & Ocular Surface: Basic Science and Clinical Relevance, which will occur from 9-12 September 2020, in Cernobbio, Italy (https://tfos2020.tearfilm.org).
The abstract submission is open. (https://tfos2020.tearfilm.org/abstract-abstracts_normal/128_127/eng/). All abstracts, except those from Travel Award applicants, must be submitted no later than June 26, 2020. We will let first authors know if their abstract was accepted within two weeks after abstract submission. All submitted abstracts, except those from invited speakers, will be assigned as poster presentations.
|YOUNG INVESTIGATOR TRAVEL AWARD PROGRAM|
Young investigators applying for a Travel Award(https://tfos2020.tearfilm.org/pagine-travel_awards/83_83/eng/) should submit their Conference abstract no later than Friday, May 1, 2020. Individuals may apply for this Award without first registering for the Conference. Winners will be notified by Friday, June 5, 2020.
The purpose of this TFOS Award Program is to provide travel support to up to 15 young investigators (under the age of 40 years), who demonstrate significant achievements in the field of tear film and ocular surface research. The amount of the Award will be $1,500 (USD; European applicants) or $2,000 (USD; non-European applicants). A waiver of the registration and banquet fees will accompany the Award. The Award winner will also serve as a Co-Chair in one of the Conference oral platform sessions.

The 9th International Conference on the Tear Film & Ocular Surface: Basic Science and Clinical Relevance is designed to assess the current knowledge and ‘state of the art’ research on the structure and function of tear film-producing tissues, tears and the ocular surface in both health and disease. The Conference also seeks to promote an international exchange of information that will be of value to basic scientists involved in eye research, to clinicians in the eye care community, and to pharmaceutical companies with an interest in the treatment of tear film or ocular surface disorders
